Neural modelling method for paper winding device e.g. roll cutter

The neural modelling method has control values (70,80) for training the neural network measured from an actual winding device and stored in dependence on the number of wound layers and the winding radius of the winding drum. The neural network (Ni) for modelling the nip of the winding device is subjected to a training phase in which the measured control values are used as the input values, with the web tension (Faw(r)) for each radius provided as the output value which can be fed to a further model (Wi) for the winding.
