<p>An organic electroluminescent device essentially constituted of a hole injection electrode and an electron injection electrode and of a light-emitting layer made by using an organic material and a carrier transporting layer which are provided between the electrodes, wherein at least one of the light-emitting and carrier-transporting layers contains a chelate compound of a chromone derivative with zinc or aluminum, a chelate compound of a 3-hydroxyflavone derivative with a metal, a chelate compound composed of a metal atom and an 8-quinolinol derivative dimer and another ligand which are coordinated to the metal atom, or a chelate compound composed of one metal atom, two 8-quinolinol derivative molecules coordinated to the metal atom and one halogen atom bonded thereto.</p> |
