The device consists of a closed balloon containing a gas with a low specific weight (such as air but preferably helium), and holding rings (9). The holding rings attached to the balloon (1) are for the suspension of a support belt (11) for one or more persons. A safety line (12) is provided for permanent maintenance of a ground connection and is variable in length. Retainers for incorporation of one or more compensation weights, balance the total weight of the balloon at a height slightly under its drive force. The balloon (1) is encompassed by load belts (8), to which are fixed the holding rings (9) for the suspension of the support belts (11) and the safety line (12). The support belts (11) are provided with extensions, the ends of which have appropriate hook and other connections for engagement with a holding ring (9).
