At the bottom edge of the parquet block one long side (16.1) has an inward projection (20) reaching upwards and has an open-topped groove (22). A second projection (24) on the opposite long side (16.2) reaches downwards with an open-bottom groove (26). The block endfaces (18.1 and 18.2) have additionally or alternatively respective downward (20) and upward (22) open-topped groove (22) and bottom-open groove (26) to ensure positive laying of the blocks in the floor etc. The outside contour of the first projections (20) correspond to the inside contour of the respective grooves (22,26). The long sides (16.1,16.2) and endfaces (18.1,18.2) are inclined in parallel out of the vertical by 7 deg (old style). The projections and groves present a parallelogram or rectangular structure in section. In a variant, the projections and grooves come in arcuate section, with projections and grooves milled out of the block in both variants.
