The invention relates to a copolymer from the monomers of constituents A to C as indicated below and optionally D, the total weight of which amounts to 100 mol %: a) 20 to 80 mol % of at least one ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or an anhydride, ester and/or amide thereof as constituent A; b) 1 to 79 mol % of at least one diketene of general formula (I), wherein R<1> and R<2> independently means hydrogen or C1-30-alkyl as constituent B; c) 1 to 79 mol % of at least one vinyl ester, (meth)acrylic acid alkyl ester, (meth)acrylnitrile or mixtures thereof as constituent C and d) 0 to less than 0.5 mol %, or when at least 20 mol % of constituent C is provided, 0 to 20 mol % of at least one other olefinically unsaturated monomer as component D. The inventive copolymer is used as a flow enhancer in petroleum middle distillates.
