The method involves preparing an analogue surface profile corresponding to the sound profile for manual scanning with an object. The analogue surface profile is generated using a digital shape generation technique. The shape generation is performed using numerical control techniques. A CNC machine is controlled by a control program to generate the sound profile by digitising the analogue sound signal, digital filtering in the time and frequency domains and computation and generation of discrete CNC commands based on the filtering results.
