Inverter circuit for level converter

The inverter circuit has an inverter (I1) with a transistor (N1) of one conductivity connected to earth at its source and a transistor (P1) of opposite conductivity coupled to a supply potential via a diode (D) at its source. The diode can be bridged by a switch element (S) so that the first transistor is blocked by the signal applied to the inverter input (IN). The inverter output may be fed to a second inverter (I2) with the control input of the switch element coupled to the output of either inverter.
