<p>Methods are provided for increased and controlled production of choline and inositol, choline and inositol metabolites, and choline- and inositol-containing phospholipids in yeast, comprising the step of increasing phosphatidylcholine (PC) turnover in yeast (see the figure). Methods are also provided for detecting phospholipase D-mediated turnover of phosphatidylcholine in vivo in yeast, comprising an assay for choline excretion.</p> |
