The device has a pattern data delivery to give the pattern data and at least the embroidering data for a number of different patterns, pattern display data, and the references for the definition of the positions and angles of the patterns in relation to the fabric holder. A selector is operated to select one or more patterns from a number of patterns, and a system is operated to position the selected patterns. A printer gives a print-out of the selected patterns and the positions in the actual sizes to be embroidered, together with the reference marks. Also claimed is a sewing machine for the embroidery, with a moving fabric holder, and the mechanisms to deliver, select and display the selected patterns.
