The electric motor has an external plug fitting (3) with a support lug (2.1) secured to the motor for opposing the movement of the plug fitting upon application of the insertion force (F) for a cooperating plug connector. The support lug may be made integral with the motor bearing plate (2), with a push-fit coupling (5), or an adhesive connection preventing movement of the plug fitting relative to the support lug in the opposite direction to the insertion force.
