The camera support stand has relatively movable parts (2a,2b ; 8) and a motorised locking device (3a,3b ; 9a,9b) for blocking or allowiing the relative movement, under control of an operating device (4,10 ; 7) controlled by the camerman. The suport stand may be mounted on wheels (2a,2b) acted on by respective wheel brakes (3a,3b) controlled by the operating device together with a clamping device (9a,9b) for preventing relative movement of telescopic sections of the upright of the support stand.
