Sludge drying assembly consists of two parallel wedge ladder racks

A continually-operated assembly is claimed for drying sludge of organic or inorganic origin without the introduction of heat from an external non-renewable power supply e.g. electrical energy. The assembly has a material feed zone which simultaneously functions as a drying zone, in which the sludge is continually fed from an receiving point to a discharge point. The novelty is that: (a) the sludge flow between the receiving point to a discharge point is effected by horizontal ladder-rack conveyers independently operated in parallel pairs; (b) each ladder-rack conveyer consists of a series of horizontal wedges whose apex is advanced rapidly into the mound of sludge, and reversed slowly, advancing the sludge towards the discharge point.
