The proposed device can be used for energizing gas discharge lamps from AC supply source 50 (60) Hz. The electronic ballast (EB) comprises a full-wave rectifier; an accumulative unit, consisting of two capacitors, a diode and a resistor; a half-bridge inverter, its diagonal includes a primary winding of a current transformer, the secondary windings of this transformer control the states of the switched elements of the half-bridge; an inductor, having two windings, one of these windings is connected in series with the gas discharge lamp, the second one is connected, in series with a capacitor, in parallel with the lamp, a low resistance is provided between the two windings. The electronic ballast provides fast ignition of the lamp and its stable lighting with high power factor (PF) and low total harmonic distortion (THD) current in the supplying network. The given device can be used for supplying lamps without additional preheating of their filaments, with a preheating of their filaments and for supplying a lamp with a break filament. It may be also used for supplying other nonlinear load.
