[Also in Division F2] In a method of producing plated strip for bearings, a strip or foil of bearing material (3) is rolled on to a porous layer (2) of material so that the bearing material (3) permeates into the porous layer (2). The latter is sintered on to a steel strip (1) and may be an alloy of coppernickel, copper-tin or copper-lead. The bearing material (3), which may be white-metal, is fed cold from outside a furnace (4), through which the porous layer (2) and steel strip (1) are fed, and the strips are passed through rolls (6), the porous layer (2) being compacted by 20%. |
