1,087,423. Protective arrangements. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Feb. 26, 1965 [Feb. 27, 1964], No. 8284/65. Heading H2K. [Also in Division G3] A protective arrangement for a variable-speed shunt-excited generator having a transistor voltage regulator, comprises a cut-out or fuse 40 connected in series with the generator field winding 16 and the transistor 27, and a controlled rectifier 41 connected in parallel with the winding 16 and in series with the cut-out or fuse. The gate of the rectifier is connected to the tap of a voltage divider 43, 44 to which the generator voltage or a voltage proportional thereto is applied. Under over-voltage conditions, e.g. due to the transistor 27 breaking down, the rectifier 41 is rendered conducting and causes sufficient current to flow to blow the fuse 40 which interrupts the field circuit. The gate of the rectifier may be connected directly to the tap of the voltage divider, Fig. 3 (not shown), or by a Zener diode 45 as shown. In a further arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), a transistor is provided between the gate and the Zener diode with a capacitor connected between the collector and base of this transistor to provide a slight delay sufficient to avoid incorrect operation due to short duration voltage surges.
|
