The invention comprises 5-halopropionylamino-1 : 9-pyrazolanthrones. They are made by acylating 5-amino-1 : 9-pyrazolanthrone with a functional derivative of a halopropionic acid to give a 5-halopropionyl-amino-N1-halopropionylamino - 1 : 9 - pyrazolanthrone which is partially hydrolysed by stirring with concentrated sulphuric acid at about 0 DEG C. Halopropionic acids mentioned are 1-chloro-, 1-bromo-, 2-chloro-, 2-bromo-, 1 : 2-dichloro- and 1 : 2-dibromo-propionic acid. The products dye linear aromatic polyesters in greenish-yellow shades. |
