<p>A communication system comprising a wireline section 100 and a wireless section 200 is disclosed. The wireline section includes a switch 101 and an Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) Service Control Point (SCP) 102. The wireless section includes a Base Station Controller (BSC) 201 connected to a plurality of Base Station Transceivers (BST) 205 and a Visited Service Control Point (VSCP). Switch 101 is connected to the Base Station Controller (BSC) 201 via a GR-303 interface and the Service Control Point (SCP) communicates with the Visited Service Control Point (VSCP) 202 via a mobility management interface eg. a modified IS-41 or IS-634 interface. A database containing both wireline and wireless directory numbers is provided in the wireline section. When a call arrives at the switch 101, the called party's number is compared with those in the database and if the called party is a wireless user, a message is sent from the Service Control Point (SCP) to the Visited Service Control Point (VSCP) to locate the user and to connect the call. The database may contain information for use in global title translation, digit translation or routing.</p> |
