The invention relates to an internal combustion piston engine, specially a powerful diesel engine, comprising at least one piston (1) arranged in a cylinder (2). Said piston is provided with a set of piston rings comprising several piston rings (3, 4) located on the cylinder (2) and accommodated in a respectively allocated groove (5). At least one gas-tight piston ring (3) with engaging ends (9) is provided and/or at least one standard piston ring (4) is also provided forming a gap (10) between both remote ends. At least one additional leak passage is allocated to each gas-tight piston ring (3). The leak passages (11) that are not formed by the gap between the two piston ring ends are configured in such a way that the effective dimension is modified when the allocated piston ring (3) is sealed. This enables leakage capacity to be adapted according to specific requirements. |
