The switch unit has an essentially cylindrical outer surface containing a peripheral groove. An annular flange has at least one essentially cylindrical inner surface with dia. slightly greater than the switch unit outer surface dia. and a groove positioned to oppose the groove in the outer surface in the assembled state. An O-ring installed in one of the grooves before assembly is of such a thickness so that it is forced into the groove under elastic deformation to enable the switch unit and flange to move axially w.r.t. each other during assembly. The O-ring then occupies both grooves to connect the flange and switch unit.
