Self-adhesive protective film, especially for cars, consisting of a base film (A) coated with a self-adhesive material (B). Film (A) consists of (a) 40-70 pts. wt. polyethylene (PE), (b) 20-40 pts. wt. polypropylene (PP), 8-15 pts. wt. titanium dioxide (TiO2) and 0.3-0.7 pt. wt. light stabiliser. Adhesive (B) comprises ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer with a VA content of 40-80 (preferably 70) mol% and a tan- delta loss angle of 0.6-1.0 measured at 60 degrees C and 0.01 Hz or 0.4-0.7 at 60 degrees c and 10 Hz. Preferably base film (A) is treated with a primer (C) consisting of EVA copolymer with a polyethylene content of 30-50 pts. wt., containing 0.3-0.7 pt. wt. light stabiliser; preferred (C) is halogen-free and is applied as a melt. The whole film has a thickness of 50-200 (preferably 65-80) microns, and base film (A) has a thickness of 40-100 (preferably 50-60) microns. Of the 40-70 pts. wt. PE in film (A), 30-50 pts. wt. consists of impact-modified PE. Adhesive (B) may be mixed with additive(s) such as rosin esters, hydrocarbon resins, liquid paraffin and antioxidants. Both (A) and (B) are preferably halogen-free. Adhesive (B) may be applied from solution or from the melt. |
