FIELD: crude oil treatment. SUBSTANCE: removal of hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans is accomplished by oxidizing them with air oxygen or hydrogen peroxide aqueous solution and elementary sulfur (0.16-0.5 mole sulfur per 1 mole of mercaptan sulfur) in presence of 0.01-0.02% (based on raw material weight) of organic amine at 15 to 65 C and pressure 0.14 to 2.1 MPa. Elementary sulfur is advantageously added in the form of solution in crude oil, gas condensate, or in above-mentioned amine. The preferred amine can be N- dimethylpropylenediamine, N,NÆ-tetramethyldipropylenediamine, polyethylenepolyamine, monoethanolamine, monoisopropanolamine, or their mixtures. EFFECT: significantly increased removal of mercaptans (up to 30-59%) and hydrogen sulfide (up to 100%). 3 cl, 8 ex5
