FIELD: automatic weapons, specifically, mechanisms feeding cartridges in small arms. SUBSTANCE: multirow box-shaped magazine for small arms with variable number of row is composed of body of variable box-shaped section with separating partitions used to store and transport cartridges, feeder, feeder spring and lid of spring. In wide part of body cartridges are positioned in two two-row passages in staggered arrangement. In narrow part of body cartridges are positioned in one two-row flow in staggered arrangement. Curvilinear surfaces, for instance, circular cylinder or cone depending on configuration of cartridges are used in transition from wide to narrow parts. Hinge feeder may change its width that makes it possible for it to pass through narrow part of body and to press all cartridges stored in wide part under bends. Such design allows capacity of magazine to be increased by 75-90% without growth of its length in comparison with classic two-row magazines. EFFECT: increased capacity of magazine. 6 cl, 10 dwgt
