PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polynucleotide having high identity to a nucleic acid encoding a polypeptide of aroE containing a specific amino acid, useful for searching antibiotic activity, etc., effective for elucidating occurrence pathology of infection, functional disorder and disease. SOLUTION: This new isolated polynucleotide is a polynucleotide having at least 70% identity to a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide of 1-257 amino acids of the formula, a polynucleotide complementary to the polynucleotide or a polynucleotide comprising at least continuous 15 bases of thesb polynucleotides, encodes an aromatic amino acid biosynthesis family (aroE) and is used for screening compounds in terms of antibiotic activity and for elucidating occurrence pathology of infection, functional disorder and disease. The polynucleotide is obtained by screening a clone library of a chromosome DNA derived from Streptococcus pneumoniae. |
