MODIFICATIONS OF SOMATOTROPINS FOR ENHANCED STABILITY

The present invention discloses variant somatotropins in which the asparagine located between positions 95-101 of a mammalian somatotropin are replaced by glutamine. Such somatotropins exhibit enhanced stability and are useful for enhancing the growth of mammals and for increasing milk production in a female mammal. Also disclosed is a DNA sequence coding for a mammalian somatotropin in which the codon for asparagine located between positions 95-101 of somatotropin is replaced by a codon for glutamine.
