摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refractory composite material that is favorable for a thick material, excellent in corrosion resistance, and advantageous for prolonging the service life, by heating formed material of a matrix mainly consisting of metallic Al and aggregate in a intruding atmosphere to nitride at least a part of the heated metallic Al. SOLUTION: The matrix consists of 1-50 vol.% metallic Al and 10-90% AIN. The refractory composite material consists of 25-85 vol.% aggregate and 70-15 vol.% matrix. At least one kind of the oxide, carbide, nitride, and boride can be adopted as the material of the aggregate. As the typical one, ZrO2 for the oxide, SiC for the carbide, AIN for the nitride, and ZrB2 for the boride. These raw materials are compacted, and the green compact is heat at 700-2000 deg.C in a nitriding atmosphere under the normal pressure or under pressurized condition to promote nitriding to obtain the desired composite material.
