PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new promoter comprising a DNA acting as a promoter for a human-derived hyaluronic acid synthetase gene, having a specific base sequence, useful for a medicine acting on skin cells to promote hyaluronic acid production. SOLUTION: This new DNA is capable of acting as a promoter for a humanderived hyaluroiaic acid synthetase gene, has a base sequence of the formula, its part having promoter activity or a base sequence modified by substitution, deficiency and/or addition of one or plural bases in the base sequence of the formula and is useful for screening a medicine showing promoting action or inhibitory action on hyaluronic acid production ability and developing a medicine for preventing skin aging phenomena by directly acting on skin cell and promoting hyaluronic acid production. The DNA is obtained by cloning a sequence having promoter activity by RACE method using PCR method for a gene of a human-derived hyaluronic acid synthetase enzyme. |
