ORGANIC SUBSTANCE DECOMPOSITION CATALYST AND AIR CLEANER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic substance decomposition catalyst which has excellent decomposition performance for volatile organic substance difficult to be decomposed and also has excellent decomposition for NOx and CO and furthermore to provide an air cleaner capable of using the organic substance decomposition catalyst and capable of being used rapidly and easily in a room or a car. SOLUTION: The composite photocatalyst, in which Pd is carried on a photocatalyst, has decomposition capacity of volatile organic substance in a vapor phase in irradiation of light. The carrying weight of Pd carried on the photocatalyst is 0.01-2.0 pts.wt. for 100 pts.wt. photocatalyst. Further, the air cleaner is equipped with a filter 1 formed of a carrying body carried with an organic substance decomposition catalyst consisting of the composite photocatalyst in which Pd is carried on the photocatalyst, with a light source 2 for irradiating the filter 1 with light and with a discharge means for discharging substance to be oxidized which has been oxidized by irradiation of the light source 2.
