PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a particulate filled or unfilled PTFE powder having a high apparent density, a low quantity of electric charge, excellent powder flow, the ability to form a granulated powder which can give a molding not deteriorated in tensile strength and elongation, freed from discoloration by a surfactant and having a high degree of whiteness. SOLUTION: 100 pts.wt. PTFE powder or mixture therof with a filler is wetted with 30-60 pts.wt. aqueous solution containing a nonionic surfactant having a hydrophobic segment comprising poly(oxyalkylene) units and a hydrophilic segment comprising poly(oxyethylene) units, and the mixture is granulated under applied mechanical force. |
