摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of the switching mechanism of a steering position adjusting device which switches a tilting motion and a telescopic motion by the switching mechanism and to improve the rigidity of the device. SOLUTION: A switching mechanism 20 has a switching nut 46 screwing onto a screw shaft 40 and a moving pin 48 which is engaged with a teeth 46b to prevent the rotation of the switching nut 46. In a state in which the switching nut 46 is prevented from rotating, the switching mechanism 20 acts as a nut to prevent the drive force of the screw shaft 40 from being transmitted to the switching nut 46. In this case, only a force for preventing the switching nut 46 from being corotated is applied to the moving pin 48. In a state in which the switching nut 46 is not prevented from being rotated, the switching mechanism 20 acts as a bearing to transmit a drive force produced by the screw shaft 40 to the switching mechanism 20. In this case, the above mentioned drive force is not applied to the moving pin 46.
