PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a stable nonaq. fatty-acid-modified polymer dispersion without heating a fatty-acid-modified acrylic resin having highly reactive double bonds together with a free-radical polymn. initiator. SOLUTION: In the presence of a resin soluble in a nonaq. solvent and having epoxy groups and/or alcoholic hydroxyl groups, anα,β-ethylenically unsatd. monomer which is souble in the nonaq. solvent before being polymerized but insoluble after being polymerized is polymerized. The resultant nonaq. dispersion is reacted with an 8C or higher fatty acid having a double bond. Pref., a part of the monomer is one having a functional group reactive with the fatty acid.
