FIELD: mechanical engineering; ball joints of car wheel suspensions and steering rods. SUBSTANCE: universal ball joint has pin with ball head installed in housing seat which accommodates shell with projections on outer surface fixed by wall of housing seat between pin ball head and inner surface of housing seat to provide elastic deformation in body over entire spherical surface and partial plastic deformation of projections by bending housing wall to spherical form. Inner surface of housing seat in polar from pin has hemispherical configuration. Shell is made of elastic-plastic material in form of truncated spherical envelope with slots from end face of truncated part behind equatorial plane to form lobes. Wall of shell above equatorial plane is made thickened. Concentric projections are made on outer surface of thickened part. Vertical projections are made on outer surface of shell lobes. Projections are made alternating in staggered order. Cylindrical belt is made on outer surface of shell in equatorial plane. Outer surface of housing is provided with spherical attachment member located at equatorial plane. EFFECT: increased service life at reduced cost of manufacture. 9 cl, 3 dwgo
