PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new peptide consisting of glycyl-L-valyl-glycyl-L-alanyl- glycyl-L-tyrosine hexapeptide derived from silk protein and useful as an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor, etc. SOLUTION: This new peptide is composed of glycyl-L-valyl-glycyl-L-alanyl- glycyl-L-tyrosine hexapeptide having high angiotensin I converting enzyme inhibition activity and usable as an angiotensin I conversion enzyme inhibitor, etc., for hypotensive pharmaceuticals or functional foods, etc. This peptide can be produced by slowly adding a silk waste raw material to a boiling 40% calcium chloride solution to effect quick dispersion and dissolution of the material, adding a bacterium-produced protease to the solution while keeping the temperature of the solution at 50 deg.C, reacting for 24 hr, adding sodium sulfate after inactivating the enzyme, separating the precipitate by filtration, purifying the filtrate and fractionating by gel filtration and reversed phase chromatography. |
