Electrically insulated, rigid ladder

The ladder has two rectangular uprights (2) and a number of steps (3) inserted between the two uprights into equally spaced openings (8) and fixed in the openings. The uprights and steps are hollow sections made of an electrically insulating material such as plastic reinforced with glass fibre. The joint between the upright and the steps is effected by a casing (4) between the opening in the upright and the end of the step (3) so that the step never passes right through the upright. The casing is a moulded section which is adapted to the shape of the ladder. The casings are aligned within the upright and are held in position by a rod (9) which runs along the entire length of the upright. The external shape (7) is adjusted to fit the diameter of the opening in the upright.
