A process for synthesizing high yields of alkynyl alcohols having a high optical purity through simple steps by using a relatively inexpensive catalyst. An (R,S) alkynyl alcohol ester (I) is reacted with an alcohol in the presence of a lipase capable of stereoselectively alcoholyzing the ester of either R- or S-form in an organic ether solvent. Thus, one optically active alkynyl alcohol (II) is formed, while the other optically active alkynyl alcohol ester (III) is left behind. In the formulae, R1 represents H or C¿1-6? alkyl, and R?3¿ represents C¿6-12? alkyl.
|
