Disclosed is a method of treating natural rubber latex with protease and peptidase enzymes whereby protein allergens contained within the latex are degraded so as to be rendered non-allergenic to humans. The protein allergenfree natural rubber latex produced by the method and articles fabricated from the protein allergen-free product are also disclosed.
