A hollow shank(2) connects the clamping sleeve(1) to the drilling head(3). A passage for flushing medium leads from the clamping sleeve to the drilling head, and a flute(4) extends along the shank on its outer side in a helical line. The flute is bounded by two side walls(5,6) which are rectilinear in cross section. The flute has between one and five revolutions per 1 metre length of shank. The helix direction of the flute corresponds to the direction of rotation of the drill.
