<p>The electric motor is of the pole changeable synchronous type and it is fitted with a split field-winding forming two pole-winding branches. When the pole-pair number is changed one of the pole-winding branches is changed in polarity. The field or exciting current for the electric motor is supplied in the usual way from a winding rotating which rotates with the rotor and the excitation current is taken to the field-winding via a rotating rectifier arrangement. One of the pole-winding branches has its polarity changed using rotating thyristors. The stator winding (2) is connected in the star arrangement.</p> |
