FINGERLINE PATTERN IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM

A fingerline profile identification method and apparatus are equipped with a three-dimensional self focusing scan system. From a relative small fraction of the skin area to be tested two identification points are determined, for example the minimum and the maximum depth values. Based on these points an unambiguously identifiable measurement line is defined. A preferably continuous curve representing the measured height variation measured along the measurement line is differentiated and the zero crossings of the derivative are used as storable identification marks.
