The invention relates to the use of depot preparations containing aldehydes and/or ketones having the properties of odiferous substances for targeted release of aromatic principles. The depot preparations are used as reaction products which can be obtained by reacting a) aldehydes and/or ketones having the properties of odiferous substances, with b) polyhydroxy compounds, containing 3-6 OH groups in the molecule, wherein butanetriol is excluded.
