[Also in Division F1] A combined ignition and steering lock comprises a bracket 3 for mounting on steering column 1 in which is insertable and lockable a lock housing 4 containing a key-operated rotary cylinder lock 10 connected to an ignition switch 17 and provided with a driver (not shown) for moving a transverse bolt 5 which passes through passage 30 in the bracket 3 out of engagement with aperture 6 in steering shaft 2 against the force of spring 19. The bolt 5 is in two coaxial parts 28, 29 which are coupled together when the housing 4 is correctly inserted in the bracket 3. Alternative forms of bolt coupling are shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 5 (not shown). Removal of the lock housing 4 is only possible after removal of bolt 36 when lock 10 and cylinder portion 15 are rotated to the " garaging " position and leg 20 of locking sheet 18 may enter recess 22 in cylinder portion 15 when sheet 18, which is normally held in recess 23 in the end of bracket 3 by spring 19, is pushed inwards by a suitable tool inserted through the hole in the end of bracket 3.
