The chip card reader (3) has at least one channel (4) for accepting a chip card with a read-head (5) and can be removably inserted into a slot for inserting modules into the computer. The external dimensions of the channel are matched to the internal dimensions of the computer slot so that the reader can be fully inserted into the slot. Strips (6) mounted on the lateral surfaces of the arrangement guide the chip cards into the channel and the reader into the slot.
