Snare unit i.e. rope clamp for catching and supporting drill-string used in earth drilling operations

The unit vertically-intercepts, i.e. catches and/or supports, drill-string tubes or rods when pulling the string. In this way, it prevents the unwelcome descent of a drill-string down the bore, during removal. The original design comprises a lengthy flexible body or snare, reaching round much of the tube. The snare is connected at two points, forming a closing ring. Should the tube slip down, the snare constricts around the tube, thus ensnaring it.
