The turning unit has a turning device (5) with an input device (4) and an output device (4,10) after it. The turning device, the input device and the output device all have a common drive (30) and are forcibly synchronised with each other. The input device may be made so that it can also serve as the output device, possibly with a sending-on device (10) after it to transport the workpieces to packing points. The sending-on device may also be driven by the common drive and synchronised with the other devices.
