<p>An allophanate-modified urethane resin is formed by reacting an allophanate-modified isocyanurate with one or more hydroxy-functional olefinic compounds, such as hydroxy-functional acrylates, methacrylates, allyl ethers, or vinyl ethers. Such resins typically have relatively low viscosities and can be used to make coating compositions for surfaces such as wood, cement, vinyl, plastic, metal, and glass on such diverse products as flooring, vinyl tiles and sheets, fiber optics, and plastic. Such coating compositions are typically curable by thermal processes or by high-energy irradiation, including UV/visible light or electron beam irradiation.</p> |
