The saw has a guide-roller unit with bearings removable in one piece from the sawing head. The sawing head (4) contains two or more wire-guiding rollers (1) each rotating between fixed and detachable bearings (3,2). Adjacent rollers form a wire grille with the wire wound round them. Each roller forms with its respective bearings a wire-guiding unit, which is only removable as a whole from the head. Equipment can be provided in the latter to allow sliding of the unit in the axial direction. Temperature-control segments (15) can be provided and which stay behind in the head on removal of the guide-unit and automatically come into contact with the outside surface of the fixed bearing when the unit is re-fitted.
