<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the driving method for the liquid crystal display device which effectively prevents a reverse area from being generated even when the influence of a lateral electric field becomes large as the definition and aperture rate become high. SOLUTION: For the driving method for the liquid crystal display device, a liquid crystal layer 500 is held between an array substrate 100 and a counter substrate 300, and a shield electrode 112 is arranged in an area where the lateral electric field operates against the pretilt direction of liquid crystal molecules. In this case, the device is so driven that a 1st period wherein a 1st potential difference is generated between a shield electrode 112 and a counter electrode 331 and a 2nd period wherein a 2nd potential difference is generated are included in one hold period.</p> |
