Prodn. of packaging material comprises coating a substrate with an aq. soln. or dispersion contg.: (A) a copolymerisate prepd. from: (a) 10-100 wt.% ethylenic 3-5C mono- or di-carboxylic acid, anhydride or hemi-ester; (b) 0-50 wt.% ethylenic cpd. contg. 1 or more sulphonic acid or sulphonate gps.; (c) 0-70 wt.% other monomers; and (B) a polyester; and opt. applying additional coating layers.
