PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image processing unit which can cope with a system with an increased processing color number more than an output color number at a pre-stage of processing of an error spread method and a mean error minimizing method so as to enhance the image quality. SOLUTION: In the system using the Windows operating system (OS), BG/ UCR is applied to RGB 3-color input multi-gradation image data to produce once multi-gradation CMYK 4-color image data. The image data are converted into CMY 3-color binary data by the assumption by the binary mean error minimum method to conduct rasterizing. In the case of a Windows printer and of a 4-color printer of the system where raster operation (ROP) is at the post stage of the mean error minimum method processing, processing color is unchanged even to any application. Furthermore, since BG/UCR is attained for multi-gradation data, an image with high quality similar to the system by 4-color processing is provided. |
