PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately correct image registration while keeping tangential force in an image transfer area within allowable limit only with a little mechanical complication. SOLUTION: By this method; the image registration is automatically corrected in the image transfer device provided with plural moving image forming media 26A, 26B, 26C and 26D where an image is formed in accordance with a corresponding page start(SOP) signal, respectively, and an image carrier 10 passing the respective image forming media 26A to 26D and coming in contact with the image forming media in the respective transfer areas 30. The image forming media 26A to 26D are driven independently of each other and the timing of the SOP signal and/or the speed of the image forming media 26A to 26D is controlled to maintain fixed relation between image distortion in a longitudinal direction caused in the transfer areas 30 and the timing of the corresponding SOP signal. |
