PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely decide the coincidence or discrepancy of images by setting again the image that is most suitable to the collation to the primary and secondary registered images in sequence among these primary and secondary images and a check object image if the degree of coincidence is set at a low level between the primary registered image and the check object image. SOLUTION: The fingerprint data D2 which are temporarily stored in a check fingerprint memory 6 and the fingerprint data D1 which are registered in a fingerprint database 5 and corresponding to the data D2 are inputted to a matching rate detection part 7 in response to the operations carried out via a key input part 2. Then the matching degree is detected between both data D1 and D2, and a system control circuit 3 decides the coincidence or discrepancy of fingerprints based on the detected matching degree. If it is decided that a primary registered image is matched with a check object image and the matching degree is set at a low level, the image that is most suitable to the matching is set again to the primary and secondary registered images in sequence among those primary and secondary registered images and the check object image respectively. |
